Thompson HD is thrilled to announce its jury trial win in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on behalf of its client Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC
).
On May 9, 2019, a Virginia federal jury found that NOVEC’s insurer, Hartford Steam Boiler, breached its insurance obligations to NOVEC by failing to cover NOVEC’s losses when a power plant steam turbine was damaged. Returning its verdict in just over an hour, the jury awarded NOVEC all its requested damages ($770,634) as well as pre-judgment interest. NOVEC is now pursuing its bad faith claim against HSB and seeking attorney fees and costs.
